Weekly Log #43

Pouet ! (Yeah I’m slowly running how of introductions ideas)

That was a productive first week, to say the least. The idea was to be able to send the artists every asset requirement I had for this version, along with references and specifications. This isn’t too hard for Muchkin, for example, as he only needs to know which track to rearrange, and what feeling I want his version to have.

But things get more complicated with Elz and Michelle, as some of their assets interact with each other : each enemy drops a different item, but I also need to make sure nearly each item is used in one way or another for crafting. So I had to determine which crafting recipes to add (especially for the new Culinarian job), balancing things to have lower level recipes relying on items from low-level regions. I ended up having to add or remove several enemies just to make sure I could strike that balance.

In the end, I’m pretty satisfied with how the Culinarian recipes turned out. Ingredients and meals look like they’d belong to Eorzea, they (I think) make sense from a gameplay point of view, and if all goes well they should look pretty tasty too.

Welp, all I have to do now is to actually code the meal-eating buff.
